Virtual auctions and hybrid auctions require a special skill set.
The auction gala industry witnessed astonishing creativity throughout 2020-2021. Virtual galas were created to counteract restrictions imposed by the global pandemic. Improvements to these galas were shared among industry professionals every day.
An organization’s geographic location often dictated the type of fundraiser.
- Virtual galas had all guests join the online party from remote locations.
- Hybrid galas had some guests attend in person and others participate online.
Though virtual galas have generally been retired, hybrid galas are still in use by some nonprofits every year.
Hybrid auctions are most popular with organizations celebrating a landmark anniversary, growing a national base, raising money for certain medical conditions, or targeting alumni.
Why have hybrid galas survived? Well-run hybrid galas let remote guests participate fully. Guests bid against in-room bidders in real time; they participate in fun activities before the show begins. Hybrid galas allow a nonprofit to extend its reach to guests who either can’t afford to attend or physically can’t be present.
But to plan a great hybrid gala, you need someone who can clarify the confusion. Don’t waste time and money trying to figure it out yourself.
That’s where Red Apple Auctions can help.
